Top Place To Visit In Florence – Florence Cathedral
The most important place to visit when you are in Florence is Florence Cathedral also know as the Duomo .
Duomo
We visited the Duomo after lunch on our first day . The building and the design on it is unique and stunning. Like no other I have ever seen . The most beautiful artwork and design on the exterior of a Church . Definitely make time to make it here and enjoy the beauty .
Some other interesting buildings in Florence:
Giotto’s Campanile
Right beside the Duomo is Giotto’s Campanile. It’s a tower decorated very similar to the Duomo. You can climb to the top for stunning views of Florence. If you are visiting the Duomo you will automatically see this tower .
Baptistery of St. John
Another building that is right by the Duomo is Baptistery of St. John. It is also covered in a similar design and is one of the oldest buildings in Florence.
Basilica di San Lorenzo
Basilica di San Lorenzo
Another building that is near the Duomo is Basilica di San Lorenzo. A church built by the powerful Medici family . It doesn’t have the unique design but is historic .
Overall Florence is filled with many historical buildings and is a stunning town for exploring on foot . We find the slower and less crowds welcoming . If you are short on time the only place to visit is the Duomo!
