What to do in Sorrento?

In addition to using Sorrento as a base for exploring the Amalfi Coast you can also use it to just relax and unwind .

Beaches

Sorrento is a cliff side town as such there are not many sandy beaches . The beaches that are there, the sand is volcanic sand . There are also many beach clubs and decks built throughout the coastal area . Great places to relax and go for a swim . The public beach area is small but still sufficient if you are on a budget .

Exploring

The town is not too big and is definitely walkable if you don’t have mobility issues . The streets are lined with shops , souvenir stores , cafes and gelato places . You can definitely spend hours wandering the streets and shopping and eating. I bought some cloths in Sorrento!

Viewpoints

Since Sorrento is a cliff side town there are many view points and Parks . Definitely worth googling the look out points and dropping by .

Churches and Historic Buildings

There are many churches and gardens in Sorrento. You would come across some in your wanderings ( Sorrento not too big ) . If you have special interest in visiting them again google and walk to it .

Ferries

Sorrento is a major port . You can use it to visit the Amalfi Coast by boat or Capri . You can also use it to go back to Naples . As you leave the port you get some stunning views of the city !

Fishing Villages

There are many fishing villages near Sorrento. The most famous one is Marina Grande . Definitely visit this village . I wrote an entire dedicated post about Marina Grande .
