This was my second time to Grand Canyon. The first time I had taken a bus tour from Vegas . This time we drove from Flagstaff making stops at various Scenic lookout points.

Route 89

I would highly recommend taking route 89 to get to Grand Canyon from flagstaff. It was the most scenic drive we did throughout our road trip in Arizona!

East Entrance

We went through the East Entrance vs South Entrance to visit the Canyon. This is highly recommended in peak season especially if you are entering latter in the day .

Driving Tour

As you drive through there are many scenic points that you can pull out into , park and explore. There are also short hikes that you can do .

Unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to do a hike but we did pull out at many different points taking it all in .

The Canyon is over two billion years old and there is nothing quite like it anywhere else . If you have more time I would recommend staying in the village near by at least for one night so you catch sunrise, sunset and do a hike !

Driving at night is not recommended due to wild life and it is not near major towns .
