Uluwatu Temple Bali

Uluwatu Temple Bali

Many locals in Bali recommended Visiting Uluwatu Temple – specifically to see sunset and a dance performance at sunset .

Sunset

We managed to make it to the temple just before Sunset . It stands up to its reputation. The temple is built upon a hillside with stunning views . We choose to walk around the hillside first before visiting the temple.

Sunset Dance performance

We didn’t make it early enough to get tickets for the dance performance and it looked pretty packed . My recommendation is to go two hours before sunset , get all your tickets ( entrance and dance performance tickets are separate) , and explore the temple before getting a spot to watch the dance performance.

Temple and Monkeys

The Temple is beautiful and peaceful . It will only take under thirty minutes to explore the temple itself.

There are monkeys that live on around the temple. These monkeys are known for stealing sunglasses, glasses , phone and pretty much any other loose items !

I don’t have many photos of the temple because as I was taking the photo below I felt someone take my sunglasses off the top of my head !! When I turned around it was a Monkey that had my sunglasses!!

I am normally terrified of animals so you imagine my terror ! Other tourists tricked the monkey into dropping my sunglasses ! I was so grateful. The Monkey had my sunglasses for five minutes or more .

I put away all my lose items into my bag and carried just my phone in my hand.

As we walked along the a hiking path beside the temple there were more monkeys. By this time I was creeped out . Another monkey stole one of my friends glasses and ran off !! We were upset . There was a lady with fruits who offered to help us get the glasses back . We agreed . It took her multiple tries of battering with the monkey before she was able to get the glasses back !! We were so happy. We paid her for her troubles !

While we were waiting we saw monkeys steal three peoples’ mobile phones !! We were glad it didn’t steal our phones and I put my phone away out of fear !!!

Enjoy this temple just be very very cautious of the monkeys. Don’t keep lose items and don’t take photos with your phone . If you do take photos with your phone keep a tight hold on it . One of the most beautiful temples we visited in all of Bali !
