Ubud Downtown – Bali
The first stop on our Ubud stay was Ubud Downtown area .
Ubud is located in the highlands of Bali . It is full of ancient beautiful temples everywhere, greenery ,arts and craft stores , beautiful plumeria trees , and yummy restaurants!
As you walk through the town you get a sense of why Ubud is so famous. Similar to Santorini the architecture is very unique to this one city in Bali !
Pura Taman Saraswati Temple
We started our exploration by visiting Pura Taman Saraswati Temple . This is a small temple that is located in the middle of town .
It is a peaceful temple surrounded by lotus flowers in ponds . When we visited the temple itself was closed but it doesn’t prevent you from exploring it outside .
The temple is a great place to relax and take a few minutes for yourself!
Ubud Art Market
Right across from the Saraswati temple is the Ubud art market . I was so excited to visit this market and it did not disappoint. There are multiple things you can buy here – from the famous circle purses , bowls and other items made from wood , colourful cloths and art work .
If you are visiting multiple places in Bali – make sure to buy your souvenirs in Ubud . No where else you would have the same level of selection!
You always have to bargain. Items are marked up by 50 to 100 percent at times ! Make sure to check at multiple places before buying.
Ubud Royal Palace
Another famous attraction within walking distance is The Ubud Palace. The Palace is a collection of small temple like buildings and a garden. You can easily visit it in under an hour.
There are a lot of Warungs ( small restaurants) , vegetarian restaurants, massage spas and different type of stores in Ubud .
Perfect for exploring by foot .
A uniquely beautiful city that deserves to be explored and savoured at a relaxed pace to truly experience it .
