Lisbon Cheap Eats

Lisbon Cheap Eats

Our dining experiences in Lisbon ranged from markets to Michelin star . The best thing about large cities is the variety of food available and Lisbon was no different. In addition to Portuguese food they had so many other options – the ones we tried were Goan food , Mozambique food and Kerala food.

This specific post is going to cover the more affordable Lisbon food options .

Coffee/ Breakfast/Lunch

1. A Padaria Portuguesa – This is a chain of bakeries in Lisbon . There was one right by Memmo Principe Real Hotel ( where we stayed on our first stay ) . We tried multiple items from here including sandwiches for lunch and all of it was excellent! Great coffee/cappuccino as well. My favourite item from this bakery is Pao de deus ( brioche bun with coconut topping) . This was melt in your mouth delicious! You can easily do a meal and a drink for under 10 to 15 Euro .

2. Timeout Market Lisbon – On our first trip to Lisbon we had so many meals here . Breakfast, snack & lunch . There is so much variety and it is constantly changing. Google recommended vendors if you decided to visit . My favourite Pastel de Nata pastry is from a vendor at the Timeout Market called Manteigaria .

3. Copenhagen Coffee Lab – This is another breakfast chain . We had cappuccinos and breakfast here one day . It was excellent. Good option if you are craving eggs for breakfast.

4. Simpli Coffee – Another chain for delicious coffee and pastries . The one we went was near the Sheraton Lisbon .

Dinner

1. Pizza A Pezzi – This pizza place was right outside Memmo Principe Real Hotel ( where we stayed on our first stay ), and the pizza was delicious! This is another chain and a great option for a quickly tasty bite that is open late .

2. Frangasqueira Nacional – This was a Portuguese chicken place we tried based on multiple food writer’s reviews. The food lived up to the hype and was extremely affordable. It’s a small restaurant run by one lady so can get very crowded. Go before opening time – there is usually a line . They also tend to run out of food – again if you want to try it go before opening.

3. Cantinho do Aziz – This was a Mozambique restaurant we visited based on a YouTube food reviewer’s recommendation . The food was flavourful and met our spicy cravings . We were there late night for dinner – there was a drunk gentleman that kept trying to make conversation as we tried to have dinner – harmless but made for an interesting experience.

4. Kerala – We had Kerala food for lunch one day . This was perfect for our spicy cravings . The puttu could have been better – other than that we liked all the other dishes we ordered.

5. Chinese Restaurant – If you are craving Chinese do drop by one of the top rated Chinese restaurants. We went to one and the food and affordable. Unfortunately we forgot the name of the restaurant.

As you can see from the variety of options available, Lisbon has an incredible number of choices for dining!
