Svatma is based out is a 150 year old building that has been restored with the utmost care . They also have a newer wing .
Throughout the hotel there are all kinds of details and items that celebrates Tamil culture. It was such a joy to see all the thought and work that was put into setting up the hotel !
The hotel is located in a enclosed compound with a charming garden throughout . Once you step inside the compound there is a sense of calm .
Svatma Location – Great Base For Temples In Kumbakonam & Thanjavur
My husband spent a lot time looking for a good hotel to use as a base while we visited the temples in and around Kumbakonam and Thanjavur . We were going to be there for three days and 2 night . The only one we found that looked attractive and had a lot amenities that we look for was Svatma.
We visited temples both in the morning first and second day while we were there , had all our meals at Svatma and enjoyed the services offered in the evening.
The location was very convenient to use as a base for visiting all the temples in the area using a car .

Svatma has three dining options: Palaharam, Aaharam and the roof top Bar Nila .
We mainly ate at the main restaurant Palaharam . The food is all vegetarian which was great for us since we were visiting temples and only eat vegetarian if we visit temples .
The food was exquisite ! All my best meals in India were at Svatma. Huge compliments to the chefs . We eagerly looked forward to each meal . Over 2 days we are all our meals at this hotel .
Svatma Services
Svatma offers a variety of services such as massages , yoga , cooking classes , pool etc . We had an opportunity to get a couple massage . It was a great way to unwind after visiting multiple temples in a day ! The massage was very good .
Overall
We had an incredible stay at Svatma and highly recommend it to anyone needing a hotel in the area ! Hands down our favourite hotel in South India .
