Restaurant Recommendations In Venice
Breakfast
We had breakfast at Gritti Palace and St.Regis . Truly enjoyed both . We were staying at the St.Regis so it was included in our stay for us . More about it in this post . I found the experience at Gritti to be better – mainly because of the history behind that place . You can read all about the Gritti breakfast here .
Lunch
In Rome and other Italian cities we had some amazing dining experiences. We didn’t have as much luck in Venice . Most of the fault for that lies with us for not doing research and planning ahead . We suffered some common fails because it !
The first lunch we had – we just randomly picked a place while we were walking around . We did check reviews but sometimes that can screw you up as well !! It is always important to research using multiple sources to find places to eat ! This place was so disappointing that I don’t even remember the name of it ! Some dishes we had :
Trattoria Pontini
The second day we had learned our lesson and found Pontini for lunch . We walked 20 minutes in the rain to reach this place ! This is a family run place serving traditional Venice food !
We sat outside with clear plastic covers . It was raining . The food was delicious. Mainly seafood focused and we enjoyed all the dishes . Recommend if you are looking for local food !
Dinner
MET
The first night in Venice we ate at MET – a Michelin star restaurant near St.Mark Square . The food was good but we felt it wasn’t worth the money for us . Wrote a more detailed posting about it here .
The second night we were tired and went to a place recommended by our concierge. Again another mistake ! We did not enjoy the dinner. I don’t remember the name of the restaurant. The lesson being do your own research and don’t depend on the Concierge- even if it is the St.Regis Concierge!! Some photos from the dinner :
Conclusion
Overall we didn’t do a great job with our restaurant choices in Venice !! Definitely need a do over !
