Restaurant Recommendations In Tuscany
We had two very lovely meals during our exploration of Tuscany. If you are using SS2 to travel between Florence and Siena, highly recommend stopping at one or both of these restaurants. These are the type of restaurants that leave a yearning in your stomach every time you think of the meal you had there !
La Cantinetta Di Rignana
La Cantinetta Di Rignana was recommended to my husband by one of his very well travelled foodie friend . So this was definitely on our list .
We had lunch here on our first day through Tuscany. To get to this Restaurant you have to drive through a dirt road which freaked me out a bit but my husband was fine driving on it. Whenever we had to pass another car it required a bit of maneuvering . When we reached the restaurant it was all worth it ! The restaurant is located in a town that has been around since the 10 th century in the middle of Chianti Classico area .
The restaurant itself is located in a stone building with outdoor terraces that overlook the winery, olive trees and rolling hills . We couldn’t have created a better setting . We sat outside on the terrace and just enjoyed the views and breeze.
Ordered two different types of pasta with truffles , steak and a bottle of Chianti Classico . It was the perfect afternoon . The food was delicious. One of the best meals we had and we will definitely go back when we visit next time . It couldn’t have been more perfect . We finished off with desserts and cappuccinos and walked around the stunning winery before heading back on the road !
Osteria Le Panzanelle
The second incredible meal we had during our Tuscany drive was on our way back to Florence. Again another recommendation from my husband’s foodie friend . It was near a town called Radda and the restaurant is called Osteria Le Panzanelle. It is very close to SS2 and is a great option if you get freaked out about driving on narrow dirt roads . There is also a large parking lot right across the restaurant.
We had lunch here and we once again ate outside. This restaurant didn’t have the sweeping winery views of La Cantinetta Di Rignana but the food made up for it . The food was simple and delicious. We had two appetizers, spaghetti, truffle pasta , dessert and coffee . Every dish was well made and tasted incredible. What made the whole experience better was that the restaurant was run by a family .Definitely will be back if we are going through Tuscany again .
We didn’t have a single bad meal in Tuscany including Florence and Siena . I don’t know if we were just lucky or if everything tastes better in this region . Food is one of the reasons for this region being our favourite in all of Italy !
