Bar Hopping In Rome – Ai Tres Scalini
We were only able to drop by one bar in Rome . Too busy trying out different restaurants and turning in early after long days of sightseeing!
One evening we dropped by The Victor Emmanuel II National Monument . Went there hoping to go up to the top to catch the sunset but it was closed that day . So we hung around outside and took photos.
Afterwards when we were looking for a place to eat, a bar called Ai Tres Scalini came up with lots of incredible reviews. This place is a winery/bar that first opened in 1895 ! I love old places so this was the perfect fit .
We walked to the bar – had to climb steps and walk up a hill to get to it . Gave our names and had a drink at the bar . The wait wasn’t very long .
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We also sat by a couple from the US with whom we chatted throughout the meal .
The drinks and food was excellent! Awesome bar food . They had a basic kitchen and leveraged that to the fullest extend . Looks like they precooked most of the items and used the onsite kitchen to prep the plates and warm the food .
This was the place in which we tried a Spritz ( a type of wine cocktail) for the first time .
It was a great bar with good food choices. Definitely recommend if you are in the area .
Once we finished our meal we walked over to the Colosseum and took some photos. This bar was about ten minutes from the Colosseum.
