Machu Picchu Peru !
Machu Picchu has been one of my bucket list items for a very long time ! Finally made it as part of a much longer trip exploring Peru . Will write separate post about the how to get to Machu Picchu and where to buy tickets ahead of time ( a must do ) in a separate post .
Bus Ride Into Machu Picchu
On the morning of our day visiting Machu Picchu we caught an early bus ( ticket pre purchased ) to get to the actual site from the town of Machu Picchu. The drive in has some incredible views !

Machu Picchu
Once the bus drops you off you line up to enter . In the early morning this line moves fast ! The earlier you get in the better it is . I would recommend getting in at 6 am .
Starting out our excitement was at peak level !
First glimpse of the million dollar view !
I had taken hundreds of photos of this view ! Couldn’t get over how stunning it was .
Machu Picchu is believed to have been built as a vacation home for one of the Inca Kings . Given its surroundings that seems to be a very logical explanation.
Apologies for similar looking photos! It was too beautiful not to post and there are slight angle changes .

The Construction Of The Incas !
One of the main reason for the popularity of Machu Picchu is the altitude it is built on ! It is surrounded by stunning mountains on all sites . The combination of the beautiful surroundings and the admiration for the skills of the Inca architects/builders makes this site wildly popular.
The Incas didn’t have the wheel or other traditional tools . However they were able to built perfectly fitted walls that have stood for centuries with standing earth quakes .
Most of the roofs of the buildings have been lost . For demonstration purposes some roofs were reconstructed to give people a sense of how all the buildings might have looked like at the time of the Incas !
We spend about four hours at Machu Picchu admiring the view and exploring the ruins . It is definitely a trip you have to do in your life time !
