When we were in Ubud we decided to visit Kubu at Mandapa Ritz Carleton based on online reviews of the restaurant.

When I called for reservation they mentioned they didn’t have any more cocoons available. I didn’t know what that was about so I told them that’s fine a regular table is good.

The night when we were on our way to the restaurant it was raining heavily. The people at the lobby entrance ensured we had an umbrella as we got out of our ride and guided us to a buggy that will take us down to the restaurant. The ride at night time in the pouring rain was a cozy experience!

Once we were at the restaurant the service was impeccable. Every request was taken care of with the utmost care . Once I saw how cool the cocoons looked I requested if we can have one if there is a cancellation. They agreed and gave us a normal table to start with . Within 10 minutes they came and let us know there was a cocoon available and if we wanted to move too it . I was super happy.

This experience was like no other I have experienced . The Cocoon is a open circle structure made out of bamboo right on the bank of a river . Amazingly I saw no bugs throughout the dining experience.

As you ate you can see and hear the river . The day we were there it was pouring rain which made the experience more cozy !

The food was incredible. It was multiple courses of small size portion dishes . Menu posted below . I also paired each course with the recommended wine ! In addition to the wine I had a cocktail with Mangusthan ! A tasty fruit from my childhood .

I loved the whole experience. The incredible food ( some of the best dishes I have tasted ) , impeccable service and unparalleled ambiance!

A must do in Ubud!
