Cayman Island
Cayman Island was one of my port stops on my Celebrity cruise .I found it to be small for a word famous offshore money haven .
I did a local tour with a van . Hired them right as I got off at the port . It cost about $25 for 2 hour tour .
I would not recommend this tour . If you are not alone , hire a taxi and negotiate a price for the day and pick the spots to visit .
Our tour included:
- A 100 year old house
- Hell
- Rum Factory
- Turtle/DolphinFarm
- Nine mile beach
The stops on the tour sounded fun but in reality it wasn’t the best idea.
100 Year Old House
We just drove past this . Barely could take any photos. The guide did give us some good history background on the Island.
Hell
This is the name given to an exposed sea floor . This is nothing special. Not worth visiting.
Rum Factory
This stop is at some stores to get you to buy rum cake . Don’t do it . It taste like crap.
Turtle/Dolphin Farm
The turtle farm cost $10 US dollars and you have about 15 minuets at this stop . So not worth it .
The Dolphin farm is free . It is a good stop . You only have about 15 minuets and you can only see Dolphin or Turtle farm .
Seven Mile Beach
Again we only had about ten minutes at this stop so not worth it at all . This beach is super crowded . However it did look like a great place to spend the day . If I had to do it again I would pick this as the only activity.
Overall
The guide made us wait about twenty to thirty minutes while he collected other people for the tour . This is a waste of time for you when you only have a set number of hours on your stop .
The stops were rushed and most was not good . I am not sure if it was this specific tour or if all the ones are like this .
The guide was knowledgeable and gave us a good insight into the Island’s history , current news and the way of life on the Island.
I would recommend skipping the tour and hiring a taxi to customize your stop and exploration.
