Panama – Buenaventura
I had a chance to be in Panama City recently and I wanted to visit a beachside resort while there . A beachside resort with strong wifi .
My wifi requirement ruled out traditionally famous places for good beaches in Panama like Pear Islands and San Blas Islands ! I am not much for rustic accommodations.
I ended up at the hotel in Buenaventura. Buenaventura is an exclusive gated beachside community in Panama. About two hour drive from Panama City . It is considered by some to be the most exclusive beachside community in all of Panama. I didn’t know this at the time of booking. I booked because the resort looked beautiful.
I drove two hours from Panama City to get here and the drive is reasonable once you get out of Panama City .
The resort is stunningly beautiful and the service and thoughtfulness of the staff is unmatched . Some photos of the resort below .
My Room
The room was beautifully decorated with a beautiful bed , living room area , bath tub and incredible views from the balcony. It couldn’t have been anymore perfect.
Welcome Gift
The service from the staff was super warm and caring . I have travelled extensively and this I can honestly say is the best service I have received to date . The below items were all free and thoughtful gestures .
Lobby
The entire hotel is beautifully designed and well kept . I enjoyed exploring it throughly .
Pool Area
The resort had two pool areas . A set of pools near the resort and another set by the beach . Again beautifully designed and maintained.
SPA
I had a Body wrap and a massage . The spa is beautifully decorated but for the price I would skip the services offered .
Around the Resort
Exploring the resort was pure pleasure ! It is build around an 89 year old tree and has many unique features that it will keep someone occupied for days !
Beach Area
Like the rest of the hotel the beach area is beautifully designed . Unfortunately when I was there the beach had a red flag which meant I couldn’t swim . I was a bit disappointed because I was really looking forward to swimming in the beach . Nevertheless it was enjoyable to sit by the beach and enjoy the breeze drinking mojitos. When it got too hot went swimming in the pool !
Resort Restaurants
I had the chance to try a few of the restaurants.
Mansa
My favourite restaurant is about a 10 minute walk from the beach side to a nearby housing developments and the restaurant is called Mansa . You can also take a shuttle from the resort to get here .
I found this restaurant from Panama guidebook . I was so happy it was within my resort compound .
I went here for lunch and it was completely empty ( off season ) . I wanted pizza but their wood Owen wasn’t working. I ordered chicken fried rice and risotto. Both dishes were incredible.
This was my favourite restaurant in all of Panama including restaurants in Panama City .
I highly recommend this place .
Tai Kai
This is a Japanese restaurant within the resort . My expectation was low however, I was pleasantly surprised.
My favourite was the Buenaventura rolls . The crab salad was also good .
Criollo Restaurant
I had both the breakfast buffet and lunch here .
The breakfast buffet at 30 US dollar is not worth it .
The lunch was tasty and a good choice for something tasty .
Asa’o & Pescao
This is a beautifully decorated beach facing restaurant. This restaurant has the most incredible view within the resort . Th food was okay- nothing too impressive.
Overall had a wonderful time at the resort and will go back if the beach is swimmable!
