Golden Circle Tour In The Summer
I have now been to Iceland 2x ! Once in winter and once in summer. I have also visited the golden circle 2x. I wrote about my winter visit to the Golden Circle here. It is a very different experience in the summer !
We did the tour with our rental car. I highly recommend renting a car while you are visiting Iceland. It is the best way to experience Iceland.
These are the main stops along the Golden Circle Tour:
- Thingvellir National Park
- Geysir and Strokkur geysers
- Gullfoss Waterfall
Thingvellir National Park
In the summer you really get to see the beauty of the park ! It is stunning. With endless lakes , greenery and mountains in the background it is one of the most beautiful parks I have been to . You can do many different hikes at this park. I recommend hiking all the way to the waterfall.
Geysir and Strokkur geysers
The Geysir is similar in the summer or winter. It is just as beautiful in the summer as it is in the winter. Definitely a unique sight and well worth the wait to watch it erupt . Make sure to wait to take some great photos. You can also do some hikes around the area if you have time.
Gullfoss Waterfall
The waterfall is much more accessible in the summer. When we visited in the winter we couldn’t get to most of the waterfall due to snow and ice. Very much worth the second trip to the falls.
Overall the Golden Circle provides a better experience when you visit it during the summer time !
