Magnolia Plantation and Garden
I was only in Charleston for a short time period and most of that time I spend at Magnolia Plantation and Garden.
I fell in love with this Garden. It has been open to the public since 1870 as a garden . Oldest public garden in America. Selected as one of America’s most beautiful gardens! Combines nature with human touches! Hard not to be in awe of it !
The Garden is large and you can spend an entire day there. They have even managed to grow bamboos. There are so many variety of plants and flowers which attracts an impressive number of brides and animals.
There are multiple pond areas with Gators in them. These ponds have strategically placed bridges that photograph brilliantly!
You can even take a boat tour or go up a look out tower to see the fields that used to grow Carolina Gold !
You can get a tour of the plantation house for a sense of how the plantation owners lived . Or you can do the Slavery to Freedom Tour which covers the history of Slavery in Magnolia. Both tours recommended.
Overall a wonderful place to visit with rich history and feast for the eyes and senses ! If you only have a chance to visit one plantation- I highly recommend this one!
