Charleston – Restaurant Reviews
I was in Charleston for less than two days and had a chance to eat at multiple places.
The good and the bad from the places I ate at :
This is a five star restaurant! One of the best restaurants I have eaten in . No details is left out and the food is phenomenal! It is my top recommendation for Charleston and is in my top 10 restaurants of all time . The service was also exceptional. I did a last minute walk in an hour before closing and was able to get a seat . I had smoked ham , oysters , catfish and oatmeal pie ! Each dish was created with a great combination of ingredients and tasted amazing. My favourite was the dessert! Will definitely go back .
I went to Hominy Grill and the line was too long ! So decided to try out the nearby Sunrise Express Bistro . It was a great decision. The Bistro is small but I was able to get a seat . It’s very laid back with self serve coffee . I had the special- shrimp and grits . It was one of the best dish I had . You have to eat grits at the right place in order to like it . If you are looking for a Southern brunch in Charleston- this is a great option.
This restaurant used to be the home to a ferry company, afterwards it became a US navy building and now it is a waterfront restaurant serving amazing mojitos and fried green tomato stacks ! I dropped by here for drinks and a snack . Didn’t have a reservation but was able to get a seat near the bar . Great view . Recommend for good waterfront views and good food.
This is a four and half star restaurant. I had a late dinner of fried chicken , fried macaroni, fried spring roll , pecan pie and fried green tomatoes. Maybe I was already full from my snack at Fleet Landing but I didn’t enjoy the food as much I was hoping for. The tomato was fresh but the sauce was too sweet. The chicken was yummy. If I go back I may give it another try .
Overall Charleston was a great place for Southern food ! Definitely explore and eat your heart out !
