Dunn’s River Falls
One of my main reason for picking Ocho Rios as the town to stay in Jamaica was Dunn’s River Falls. Dunn’s River Falls is a set of small waterfalls that are the result of multiple rivers coming together and flowing in to the Caribbean Sea. I have never seen such a fun waterfall! You can climb up the waterfall with the help of guides – jump into various pools of water and enjoy the view ! It is a very unique place and would be my top recommended activity in all of Jamaica ! If I get an opportunity would definitely go back to see it again . On the website for Dunn’s River Falls – you find information about hours of operation , tickets etc.
Bob Marley House/Museum Visit
My second recommendation is a visit to Bob Marley’s House. I love his music so it seemed fitting to visit his house. We arranged a private taxi from our hotel and left early to avoid the tour buses . I recommend doing this. There were four of us and the cost of the private taxi came up to almost as much as a tour when split four ways. The drive from Ocho Rios to Kingston Jamaica where Bob Marley’s House was located was scenic and gave us a chance to see the country side ! The ride was safe – at no time did we feel uncomfortable with our surroundings. Since we took a private car we beat the crowd to the House/Museum. A Rasta gave us a tour of the grounds, house, Bob Marley’s room, his resting place, his meditating rock and some history on Bob Marley . It was an interesting experience and I recommend it to fans of Bob Marley !
Sailing
The resort I stayed in offered Sailing Lessons and the use of their sail boats with an instructor for US $30 ! If you stay in this resort or has a similar offer I recommend taking this offer. It felt good to learn to Sail. Learning to control a new type of vehicle is always an interesting experience ! The instructor was patient and we had amazing weather .
Snorkeling
Snorkeling is an activity with a low learning curve. I have been Snorkeling in multiple places and Jamaica has a good amount of under water species available to make snorkeling interesting. The cool part about the location we visited for snorkeling is that at places it was very shallow and you could stand up ! It was very cool being able to stand up in the middle of the ocean . The location for snorkeling was not very far from our resort. The activity again was arranged through our resort and was good value for the money !
The Beach
Ocho Rios is famous for its beaches ! The beach at our resort was fantastic ! We didn’t visit any other beaches ! I recommend spending a lot of time by the beach , enjoying the waves, sipping on your cocktail and eating spicy food ! To me nothing else could be more perfect !!
